This year, our school is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Some people are very negative about the educational system in England and boarding schools* are often criticised. But we get lots of messages from our ex-students and most of them are really nice. Please write to us about your school memories.
A. Henry, Birmingham
I know that the school was rather expensive and many parents could not pay so much for their children’s education. My mum and dad chose your school because it had more Biology and Chemistry lessons than is typical and I was interested in those subjects. In fact, my exam results were really good. I believe that it is thanks to your school that I am a doctor now.
B. Dorothy, Reading
I remember the day my parents left me at my boarding school. I was only seven so they thought I was going to miss them, our kitten Ruby and, most of all, my baby sister Olivia. But there was no need to worry. I was absolutely fine, except maybe for my new bedroom, which was not as big and nice as mine at home. But I got used to it very quickly.
C. Emma, Brighton
The most important thing of all was that I met fantastic people here. All my schoolmates were girls who, just like me, found living away from home an exciting adventure. The teachers were kind and helpful and the lessons were not as boring as we expected. Of course, not everything was ideal. History was not my thing at all (though I absolutely loved the teacher!) and cross-country running was awful. But most important of all, I made a lot of friends and most of them are still my closest friends today.
